Twitter: Entertainment for the Misunderstood

Dayna Bieber
ART491 - Pease
Assignment:
Take an existing icon in advertising and alter its meaning
My Interpretation: Twitter gets a bad wrap, especially from people who see it only as a way to stalk their favorite celebrities. I, however, have utilized the social media site to connect with other creative thinkers. I read an interesting article in Adweek the other day entitled, "What Can Twitter Do For You?." It sheds light on how useful the site can be if used correctly and with purpose. For now, I'll entertain those who misunderstand its significance in the social media realm.

S0nheath is a music publishing company based in Arizona. The name of the company embraces the surrounding indigenous culture. To communicate this concept in the logo, I used red colors and triangle shapes. In many Native American cultures, stars (and triangles) are signs of importance- they represent having direction and meeting goals. The color red is also very important, as it symbolizes passion, creativity, communication, and success.

Final logo for Yum Cha in Black and White and color. Also included is the typography I will be using with the logo.

Studio 1201 is an urban apparel retail outfit for women. The clean, modern design reflects the company's style of clothing. The form in the logo is composed of circles, with the yellow and blue giving way to a green mass in the center. This stands to represent the company's environmental stance, in creating a high quality, fashionable product that is also "green."

Yum Cha means "drinking tea" in Cantonese. It also refers to a dining experience of eating small servings of foods. This is why I created Yum Cha, an elegant oriental food restaurant that will immerse every customer into the chinese culture. It will offer customers a unique dining experience with small servings of different foods and it will offer different teas. More than a dining experience it will be a cultural experience.
